This engine has proven qualities of good acceleration, low noise level and very economical running, in terms of fuel and oil consumption. This is a 4-cylinder, in-line, water cooled, direct injection engine with the overhead camshaft arrangement. This engine outbeats the other diesel engines in its class on account of several unique features. Some of these are: (i)The FM 2.6 CR ED (BS-VI) Engine fitted with common rail direct injection system. In this system, sensors are provided on the engine and vehicle. These sensors send the signals to ECU (Electronic Control Unit) which controls the fuel delivery and EGR system operation to minimise the air polluting particulate matter in the exhaust gases. The EGR system comprises of EGR module which is integration of EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) valve and bypass valve. The electrically operated EGR valve ensures fast response and anti-sticking technology. High flow capability, excellent sealing enables it to meet the stringent emission standards. The oil supply to the engine is made through a very efficient and large capacity oil filter. (vii) Electricals: A large heavy duty starter ensures efficient cranking. A very efficient 150 amp. alternator is provided ensuring steady charging over a large range of engine speeds and with lower maintenance costs. (viii) Turbo Charger: Vehicle is fitted with E-VGT (Electronic variable geometry turbo charger) is a next generation of turbo charger.
